Carpets, Floors & Upholstery Cleaning FAQ's

Q. Can you clean Sofas/chairs rugs or upholstery? 
A. Yes absolutely. We are able to clean all fabric or leather upholstery although specialised fabrics such as velvet or linen blend can take longer which will be reflected in the price.

Q. Can you clean mattresses?
A. Yes we can.


Q. Can you clean leather sofas, chairs and inlay?
A. Yes we can clean leather sofas, headboards, car seats etc


Q. How long does it take for the carpet or upholstery to dry?
A. That depends on a few factors - air flow in house, temperature in house, type of carpet or fabric. On average most carpets are dry in around 4-6 hours, we do have driers available which we are happy to leave with you if you need them to be dry quicker. Sofas can take a little longer to dry but are usually dry by the following day. We do recommend opening windows to encourage air flow around the house which will help speed up the drying time.


Q. Can I walk on the carpet after it is cleaned?
A. It's best to stay off the carpet while its drying if possible, however if you do need to walk on the carpet please make sure you don't walk on it in outdoor footwear. When a carpet is still damp it can attract the dirt from your shoes. We can provide overshoes for you if it's a high traffic area and walking on it cannot be avoided.

Q. Is there a minimum call out charge for carpet cleaning?
A. Yes for carpet and upholstery cleaning there is a minimum call out charge of £100.


Q. What type of carpet cleaning machine do you use?
A. We use a hot water extraction machine called Airflex Storm. This is a top of the range high-spec machine with the highest power vacuums available for portable machines. We get asked all the time about the difference between our machine and the machines you can hire from the DIY centres. The difference is in both the chemicals and the extraction power. Most domestic carpet cleaning machines simply cannot remove enough water from your carpet when you've cleaned it. This can often result in "wickback" where the water has gone through to the backing and underlay. Unfortunately once this has happened it's very difficult to salvage the carpet, this is why it's important to use professional carpet cleaners to look after your carpet.


Q. Are your chemicals pet and child friendly?
A. Yes absolutely. We use a chemical range called Njord, these chemicals provide outstanding results and premium fragrances. All of their chemicals are safe to use around pets and children and smell fantastic. Safety data sheets for all of the chemicals we use are available on request.


Q. Do you guarantee stain removal?
A. Unfortunately we can never guarantee complete removal of a stain. It does help if we know what has caused the stain in order to use the right chemicals to treat it. We can usually improve or remove most stains and we will do our best to make you happy but we can never guarantee stain removal.


Q. Can you help with cleaning flood damaged carpets and floors?
A. Absolutely, we are more than happy to have emergency call outs and we will try and fit you in straight away if we can. We are also happy to work with you while you claim through your insurance, we can invoice you/your insurance company as long as it's been authorised for you to go ahead and get the work done. 

Q. Can you help with end-of-tenancy cleans in the Cotswolds?

A. Yes we can do this, it is always more straightforward to clean a carpet without somebody living there, and with less or no furniture in place. 

We carry out End-of-Tenancy cleans regularly.

Q. I need help with our commercial premises that can only be done when we are closed, is this OK?

A. Yes, we understand that your commercial premises floor cleaning can only be undertaken out of hours, and we will work around you.  This is also easier for us when there are no staff or customers in the way.

Q, I have spilled a glass of red wine, what can do until you get here?

A. As tempting as it seems, the best thing you can do is to call us ASAP, time is the important factor here, not trying to dab it up off the carpet.

Q.  What geographical areas do your service?

A. We are based in Chipping Campden in the Gloucestershire area of the North Cotswolds.  We travel up to 30 miles for domestic carpet cleaning and upholstery jobs, and slightly further for commercial floor work.  This means we can happily travel to Evesham, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Broadway, Pershore, Tewksbury, Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour ,and Moreton-in-Marsh.

Q.  Do you move the furniture for us?

A. We are of course here to clean the carpets, but fully understand that the furniture is often in the way.  We usually work alone so it is difficult to move everything ourselves.  It is best for the client to move as much as possible (especially breakables) before we arrive, and we are happy to assist moving some of the larger items.  Any time moving furniture is time we are not spending cleaning the carpets.

Q. What 'home-remedy' carpet cleaning solutions do you recommend?

Many people turn to Google when they are trying to figure out how to remove certain stains. Many stain removal guides will tell you to use everything from baking soda and vinegar to hydrogen peroxide and ammonia.  Sometimes these home remedies can work but they don’t take into account what kind of carpet you have, how old it is. You may risk using too much or leaving it in for too long, which may permanently discolour your carpet. Plus, if your carpet is an older one and looks somewhat dirty throughout, cleaning just one spot will make that spot stand out, sometimes even worse than a stain.

Q. What about shop brought carpet cleaning products and solutions?

They can actually work, but the question is - what is the stain?  These are a one-size fits all solution regardless of age of carpet, type of carpet, type of stain or how long it has been there.  Use with caution.  

Q. How often should I have my carpets professionally cleaned?

A. It's recommended to have your carpets professionally cleaned every 12 to 18 months, depending on the foot traffic and the presence of pets or allergies. Regular vacuuming and spot cleaning can help maintain the appearance of your carpets in between professional cleanings.

Q. Can you remove allergens and dust mites from carpets and upholstery?

Q. How do you clean hard floor surfaces, like tile or hardwood?

A. We use specialised cleaning equipment and techniques to clean various types of hard floor surfaces. For tile and grout, we use high-pressure hot water extraction, while for hardwood floors, we use a gentle cleaning solution combined with a low-moisture cleaning process to avoid damaging the wood.

Q. Can you remove pet odors from carpets and upholstery?

Q. How long will it take for my hard floors to dry after cleaning?

A. The drying time for hard floors varies depending on the type of flooring and the cleaning method used. Generally, hard floors dry much faster than carpets, often within an hour or two. We recommend allowing adequate ventilation to speed up the drying process.


Q. Can you clean and restore delicate or antique rugs?

Q. What should I do if my carpet starts to buckle or wrinkle after cleaning?
